Sheikh Mohammad: citizens’ interests and their financial entitlements should not be affected by political problems

During his meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Kurdistan Region Mr. (Abdul Sattar Majid) and a number of general managers in the Ministry, Deputy Speaker Aram Sheikh Mohammad stressed the need to seriously consider the public interest aloof from political controversies. Both sides discussed the importance of settling pending issues between Baghdad and Erbil and paying the financial dues to the farmers in the region.

For his part, Mr. Majid denied the accusations that the KRG may be cutting water supplies to the southern provinces of Iraq as a means to put pressure on Baghdad, adding “we held a meeting with the parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and there is a sincere intention to resolve the outstanding issues between the two Ministries and the return of trade exchange of food and agricultural products between the Region and the Center.
