Sheikh Mohammad holds PM responsible for storming the COR

In a phone call with Aram Sheikh Mohammed, UN Special Envoy to Iraq Mr. Jan Kubiš condemned the storming of the COR and confirmed that the UN was concerned over the abuse of the MPs and called the breach into the Green Zone a dangerous infringement. Mr. Kubiš stressed the importance of sticking to peaceful methods to resolve political disputes.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammad blamed PM Haidar al-Abadi for storming the COR and attacking the lawmakers. “Al-Abadi used all the security forces inside the Green Zone to protect himself and wandered near his headquarters without the consideration of the escalation of violence,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “He did not care to protect the lives of the people’s representatives”.
