The COR votes to amend media network law and sustain interpellating the Minister of Health
In its 23rd ordinary plenary session held on Monday April 3, 2017, the COR voted to amend the media network law and sustain interpellating the Minister of Health.
The session was chaired by H.E. the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri and attended by 183 MPs.
At the start of the session, the MP Abdul Ilah al-Na’ili recited a statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and his sister Amna Bint al Huda. Then the Council read Al-Fatihah for the spirit of al-Sadr and the martyrs of Iraq.
On the other hand, the Speaker called for solidarity and cooperation in order to reconstruct the country after the end of terrorism, , noting that the presidency of the Council will do its best during the current week to foil any attempt against the decisions taken by the Kirkuk Provincial Council and the COR concerning lifting Kurdistan region’s flag.
The Council then voted on the first amendment to the proposed Law of the Iraqi Media Network No. (26) for the year 2015 submitted by the Legal and Culture & Media Committees.
Concerning the vote on the discharging of Mr. Safa al-Din Rabie the head of the Media and Communication Commission, al-Jubouri confirmed that the presidency of the CR received a petition signed by 51 MPs, after the interpellation, on the basis of Article 61 / VIII / e of the Iraqi Constitution.
The COR voted to proceed with the discharging of the head of the Media and Communications Commission in case quorum was available. Al-Jubouri welcomed the Iraqi delegation that attended the plenary session and participated in an exhibition for inventions in Egypt and won 23 gold medals out of 67 medals. The delegation members, on their part, presented a souvenir to al-Jubouri.
On the other hand, the COR continued the interpellation of Mrs. Adila Hammoud, Minister of Health at the request of MP Awad al-Awadi.
Then, the Speaker decided to complete the interpellation on Tuesday and make the meeting open at the request of MP al-Awadi.
The session was then adjourned to 4/4/20117.
