The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri received on Sunday a congressional delegation headed by MP Dennis Ross in the presence of the US ambassador to Iraq.
During the meeting, they discussed the political and security developments at the Iraqi and international levels, especially the war on ISIS, ways of promoting cooperation between the two countries to combat the growing scourge of ISIS and limit its reach. The Speaker remarked that Iraq has made great sacrifices in its fight against terrorism and is now defending world peace and security.
He praised the efforts exerted by the United States in leading the international coalition in the war against ISIS, stressing that this support should be maintained to help the displaced people to return to their homes and rehabilitate their areas.
For their part, the members of the delegation stressed that the United States is a key supporter of Iraq in its war against terrorism and that the continued support of the international community is very important to liberate occupied areas and return the IDPs back to their homes after its reconstruction and achieve peace and security in all its cities, stressing that Iraq’s stability contributes mainly to stability of the entire region.
