The COR votes to discharge the head of Media and Communications Commission and closes the interpellation procedure initiated against Minister of Health

In its 24th ordinary plenary session held on Tuesday April 27, 2015, the COR voted to discharge the head of Media and Communications Commission and closed the interpellation procedure initiated against Minister of Health Adila Hmood in addition to finishing reading 4 laws.
At the outset of the session, the Speaker condemned in the name of the Iraqi Council of Representatives the heinous crimes against churches in Egypt. Then, MP Khalaf Abdul Samad recited a statement in the name of the National Alliance congratulating the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (a.s.), recalling at the same time the anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Mohammed Baqir al-Sadr and his sister Bint al-Huda by the former regime.
The COR accepted Ms. Hmood’s interpellation answers by the voting 122 out of 205 MPs.
The Council voted by an absolute majority of 160 MPs out of 216 to discharge Mr. Safaa al-Din Rabie the head of Media and Communications from his post based on a parliamentary petition submitted by 50 MPs for not attending the interrogation sessions.
MP Vian Dakhil recited a statement concerning the initiative of the women MPs on the community peace in Nineveh.
The Council then voted on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Initiative for Community Peace in Nineveh.
The Council completed the first reading of the third amendment of Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (HCHR) bill No. (53) for the year 2008 submitted by the Human Rights and Legal Committees.
The COR completed the first reading of the first amendment of Martyrs Institution bill No. (2) for the year 2016, submitted by the Martyrs & Political prisoners, finance and legal Committees.
The COR also finished reading report and discussing the second amendment of the Independent High Electoral Commission bill No. 11 of 2007 submitted by the Legal Committee.
For his part, The Speaker announced taking up the second amendment of the Independent High Electoral Commission bill No. 11 of 2007 for the next session for voting.
The COR finished reading report and discussing the first amendment of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council resolution NO. (223) for 1980submitted by Finance and Legal Committees.
The Committee of Human Rights read a report on the Committee’s quarterly activities.
The session was then adjourned to next Thursday 13/4/2017.
