The Speaker Congratulates journalists on World Press Freedom Day

The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri congratulated journalists and media workers on the World Press Freedom Day.
He stressed in a press statement the importance of the role of the press in promoting the principles of freedom of opinion and expression and laying down the principles of democracy and human rights in the country, adding that media play an important role in our war against ISIS by transmitting the truth and the victories of our heroic forces.
The Speaker stressed that the parliament has provided and will provide all forms of support to media through measures and legislations that have contributed directly to the building of the State and maintaining society on a sound basis.
He underscored the importance of enabling journalists to perform their duties safely and freely, and the need to work on the provision of appropriate conditions to facilitate their work and enhance the role of journalism in society.
