COR finishes reading Nursing Syndicate and the Federal Executive bills

In its 25th ordinary plenary session held on Thursday April 13, 2017 the COR finished reading two bills and voted in principle on a Parliamentary decision on Anfal crimes.
The session was chaired by H.E. the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri and attended by 212 MPs.
At the outset of the session, MP Farhad Qadir read out a statement on behalf of the Council of Representatives on the occasion of the anniversary of the tragedy of Anfal against the Kurdish people by the former regime, calling for serious action to be taken to return the remains of the victims, to activate the decision of the court to compensate the people of the Anfal, to include the crimes of Anfal in school textbooks, to prosecute those involved in the crime and bring them to justice, to consider April 14 an anniversary in all parts of Iraq, and finally demanded the Iraqi government to join the Rome statute to prevent genocide.
Then the MPs recited Surat Al-Fatihah to the souls of Anfal Martyrs.
The Council voted in principle to send the abolishing decision of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council bill No. 204 of 2002 submitted by Health & Environment and Legal Committees to the government and assigned them to prepare a bill addresses the objection.
The council voted in principle on a parliamentary resolution on Anfal crimes that were carried out by the former regime against hundreds of Kurdish villages. Al-Jubouri directed to present the parliamentary decision to the relevant committees and take the government’s opinion on what is contained therein. On the other hand, al-Jubouri said that he would reveal the names of absentee MPs who exceeded the legal limit in the session on Saturday to take action in this regard.
The Council finished the first reading of the Nursing Syndicate bill submitted by the Civil Society, Legal, Financial and Health & Environment Committees.
The Council finished the first reading of the Federal Executive Authority bill submitted by the Legal Committee. Al- Jubouri directed to present the bill in the next session to be voted on.
The session was then adjourned to the next Saturday 15/4/2017.
