The Speaker meets Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs
The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri met in his office on Wednesday Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his accompanying delegation. The Speaker remarked that Iraq and Turkey are important countries in the region and their cooperation will ensure an important opportunity to foster stability and peace in the region and support international and regional efforts to fight terrorism.
The Speaker called for working together to kick-start a new phase of bilateral relations and cooperate to maintain the security and prevent ISIS from returning, confirming, “the progress of the security forces in in Tal far area and all ISIS-captured areas on the borderline between Turkey and Iraq will lead to higher level of cooperation between both sides”.
The speaker referred to the importance of involving in extensive dialogues with friends and neighbors and be prepared for the post ISIS era. He pointed out that “dialogue will lead to effective and real solutions to our problems. The challenges that face the region are highly entangled and everyone will be adversely affected if they are not tackled. Solutions have a positive impact on regional stability, progress and development”.
With regard to the investment sector, the Speaker denoted “It is necessary to open up new economic horizons between the countries as cooperation will bring in a remarkable economic development for both countries”, praising Turkey’s efforts to support Iraq in its war against ISIS and in sheltering Iraqi and Syrian refugees.
For his part, Mr. Çavuşoğlu confirmed his country’s support to Iraq in its war against terrorism and in providing all forms of support with regard to the displaced people and the reconstruction of the liberated areas.
