The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri met on Sunday the British ambassador Mr. Frank Baker on the occasion of the end of his duties as ambassador to Iraq.
The Speaker lauded Mr. Baker’s efforts in strengthening and developing the bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields.
They also discussed the latest developments on the security and political levels and ways of promoting cooperation between Iraq and the international coalition to eliminate terrorist bandits and limit their spread in the region and the world, in addition to the great victories achieved by the Iraqi forces the last of which was the liberation of Qaim district.
The two sides agreed on the importance of dialogue at this stage to end all differences, especially the crisis between the central government and the KRG, and the need to consolidate security and stability and return the displaced people to their liberated areas. The Speaker highlighted that the international community should continue to support Iraq in the military and humanitarian fields so that it can overcome the crises and because of its great role in eliminating one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in the modern era.
The meeting also dealt with the issue of the disputed areas and the measures taken by the state to impose its power in these areas, as well as the issue of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
