The Speaker, Japanese ambassador to Iraq discuss security, political and economic issues in Iraq
The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri met in his office on Monday the Ambassador of Japan to Iraq Mr. Fumio Iwai.
During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tokyo and means of activating them in a way that enhances the interests of the two friendly peoples, as well as discussing the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region and the need for stimulating the flow of investments between the two countries at all levels.
AL-Jubouri remarked, “with the vigilance and determination of our security forces and Iraqi people victory has been achieved against ISIS and now Iraq is getting prepared for the reconstruction battle in the post ISIS era”.
He added that the role of the Japanese government and people was unique in supporting Iraq, through providing humanitarian assistance which contributed to reducing the suffering of displaced families due to the terrorist control of their cities and villages. He stressed that Iraq is keen to strengthen its relations with all countries, especially Japan by encouraging investment in the country and in various fields.
For his part, Mr. Iwai appreciated the Speaker’s strenuous efforts to contain the crises and his support for constructive dialogue that would strengthen the unity and stability of the country.
