COR finishes reading three laws

After resuming its fourth plenary session of the second legislative term-fourth legislative year, held on Monday January 15, 2018, the COR finished the first reading for three legislatives proposals.
The session was chaired by H.E the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri and attended by 195 MPs.
At the outset of the session, the Speaker condemned the cowardly criminal act that targeted the innocent citizens in Baghdad today, calling on the security services to take the necessary measures to protect citizens, stressing the importance of preserving the national cohesion and integration.
Surat Al-Fatihah was then recited in memory of the martyrs of Iraq.
The Council finished the first reading of the legislative proposal for the Amendment to the Social Welfare Law No. 126 of 1980, submitted by the Labor and Social Affairs Committee.
The council completed the first reading of the Exemption from Tax Penalty law submitted by the Financial and Economic and Investment Committees.
The Council completed the first reading of the legislative proposal for Refugee law submitted by the Committee of Expatriates, Displaced Persons and Expatriates.
On the other hand, the Speaker stressed that the first reading of the Federal Budget law will be presented on the agenda of Wednesday’s session, while the Election legislative proposal will be put to vote on next Thursday’s session.
The Speaker remarked that the Minister of Electricity Mr. Qasim al-Fahdawi sent an official letter in which he stated that he was abroad, nothing that the Minister will be interrogated on next Wednesday, and in case he didn’t show up, he would be interrogated in absentia.
The session was then adjourned to next Wednesday 17/1/2018.
