The Speaker hosts the Minister of Water Resources to discuss water crisis

In a deliberative sessions held on Sunday February 18, 2018, the Iraqi Council of Representatives hosted Mr. Hassan Al Janabi, Minister of Water Resources and his accompanying delegation to discuss the water crisis.
At the outset of the session, the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri announced giving the Finance Committee a week to resolve the Federal budget for 2018, referring to an intention to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister and with the participation of the Finance Committee to resolve the budget deadlock, pointing out that the lawmakers will be invited to hold a meeting on Tuesday of next week.
Al-Jubouri welcomed the Minister and the delegation accompanying him, pointing to the need to find ways to cope with the water crisis, pointing out the readiness of the Council to consider the demands of the ministry concerning the task entrusted to the Councils of Representatives and Ministers to approach neighboring countries.
For his part, Mr. Al Janabi lauded the role of the Council of Representatives for following up the issue of water, and surveyed the procedures of the upstream countries, the outbreak of wars and the floods from which Iraq had suffered over the past decades and its impact on development, referring that the Ministry follows a strategy to work until 2035 to ensure the water, agricultural and food situations with the changes that are taking place
