COR ends the first reading of the legislative proposal of Fourth Amendment to the Election Law

After the resumption of the special session on Friday, 22/6/2018, under the chairmanship of H. E the Speaker Dr. Saleem Jubouri, the Council of Representatives ended the first reading of legislative proposal of Fourth Amendment to the Election Law No. 45 of 2013.
At the beginning of the meeting, al-Jubouri affirmed that the council will continue to hold a special session in order to continue correcting the democratic process that it has undertaken throughout the legislative years, pointing out that the council is continuing to complete the task in a constitutional manner, and that people are holding them accountable, The government will punish those who manipulate the will of people regardless of their titles, positions or political positions.
Al- Jubouri pointed out that the meeting today aims to extend the life of the legislative authority and without the consequences of any financial burden parallel with the length of the executive authority to prevent the legislative vacancy and maintain the balance of the state in light of the role of the judiciary to supervise the counting process as stipulated in the third amendment to the law of elections and approved by the Federal Court.
On his part, MP Niazi said the decision of the COR to submit a request signed by 60 MPs to the Presidency of the Council includes the proposal to continue the work of the COR until the completion of the process of counting and sorting by hand.
The Council ended the first reading of legislative proposal of Fourth Amendment to the Election Law No. 45 of 2013 and submitted by the Legal Committee.
It was then decided to resume the session on Sunday 24/6/2018.
