During his meeting with a delegation from International Republican Institute, Deputy Speaker Aram Sheikh Mohammad stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to prepare for the post-ISIS phase, pave the way for the return of displaced families to their homes and reconstruct areas affected by the military operations. Both sides also discussed the progress of the legislative process and the draft laws that are yet to be enacted.
Sheikh Mohammad added, “in spite of the problems that have been accumulated over the last two years, we are trying to learn from past mistakes and not repeat them in this legislative term. We are also working on strengthening the supervisory role of the Parliament and improving its performance, dealing with important issues, and adopting laws that serve the citizens and push forward the wheel of progress in the political process.
