COR votes on Parliamentary Resolution concerning independence referendum and hosts Prime Minister
In its 23rd plenary session held on Wednesday 27 September, 2017 the COR voted on the final draft to a parliamentary resolution regarding Kurdistan’s independence referendum and hosted the Prime Minister Dr. Haidar al-Abadi.
The session was chaired by H.E the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri and attended by 184 MPs.
At the outset of the session, which was opened by the First Deputy Speaker Sheikh Dr. Humam Hamoudi, sheikh Hamoudi expressed heartfelt condolences on his own behalf and on the behalf of the Iraqi Council of Representatives to the Speaker on the death of his father who passed away this morning.
Sheikh Hamoudi also offered condolences to MP Hisham al-Tamimi on the death of his mother.
The MPs then read Surat al-Fatiha for the souls of the deceased and the martyrs of Iraq.
Sheikh Hamoudi stated that in spite of his grief, the Speaker decided to attend the session as what Iraq faces today (threats of division) stands out above any other grief or misery, thanking al-Jubouri for his position.
Then the Speaker read out the final draft of the parliamentary resolution regarding Kurdistan’s independence referendum. The COR voted on the resolution.
In a general invitation for discussion, the COR hosted the Prime Minister Dr. Haidar al-Abadi and the National Security Adviser Mr. Faleh Al Fayyad, in addition to the Ministers of Defense Mr. Irfan Al-Hayali, Interior Affairs Mr. Qassim Al-Araji and Oil Mr. Jabbar Luaibi.
The session was then adjourned to next Tuesday 3/10/2017.
