Russia supports Iraq’s unity and Sheikh Hamoudi confirms: Holding the referendum will lead to chaos

The Russian ambassador to Iraq Mr. Maxim Maximov confirmed his support to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of Iraq and remarked that all outstanding issues between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government should be resolved through structured dialogue and constructive compromise.
This came during his visit to the First Deputy Speaker’s office Sheikh Dr. Humam Hamoudi Today.
Sheikh Hamoudi stressed the need to cancel the referendum of Kurdistan which is supposed to be held tomorrow as it will raise tensions in the region and contribute to destabilizing the situation and lead dangerous outcomes, noting that priority should be given to getting rid of the ISIS remnants.
