Sheikh Hamoudi praises the Council of Ministers’ decisions on the “illegal” referendum

The First Deputy Speaker Sheikh Dr. Humam Hamoudi lauded the measures taken by the Council of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi on the “disastrous” referendum, stressing that “the executive and legislative authorities” are moving in the same direction to preserve Iraq’s unity and abide by the Constitution’s “spirit and text” without any favoritism. Sheikh Hamoudi called on the Prime Minister to follow up on the decisions adopted by the Council of Representatives following the referendum in northern Iraq, pointing out the need to intensify efforts to extend the authority of the federal government with regard to the oil exportation and control of border crossings.
He stressed the need to restore the disputed areas and preserve the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, as well as the importance of full consideration of Kurdistan people who seek a better life.
