The Speaker, US ambassador discuss Iraq’s role in preventing the spread of terrorism

The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri met in his office on Tuesday the US ambassador to Iraq Mr. Douglas Silliman. During the meeting, they discussed the latest security and political updates on the local and regional levels and ways of promoting cooperation between Iraq and the United States in the fight against terrorism and the efforts made by Iraq in preventing further spread of this extremist ideology.
The two sides agreed on the importance of the international community’s support for Iraq to overcome its crisis, address its problems and preserve its unity and to build trust and confidence among all parties through starting a fruitful and serious dialogue as the only way to solve problems and end disputes.
They also discussed the efficiency of the measures taken by the state in extending its power over the disputed areas, as well as discussing the issue of the elections and the return of displaced persons to their areas.
