The Speaker meets delegation of French Senate

The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri met on Saturday a delegation of Middle East Christians in the French Senate headed by Bruno Rotayo. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the region, the bilateral relations between the two countries and means of opening new horizons of cooperation especially with regard to combating terrorism.
The situation of Christians in Iraq has also been discussed. The Speaker affirmed that the Iraqi people, including the Christian, were threatened by the terrorist attacks, pointing out that “Today, after the demise of ISIS, Iraq is at the dawn of a new era in which the rights of all components and minorities are preserved”.
The speaker expressed his appreciation for France’s efforts in supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism and for the humanitarian assistance that it provided for the IDPs, hoping that France would be present in the reconstruction of the liberated areas.
For their part, the delegation members expressed their congratulations on the occasion of the Iraqi Army Day and lauded the great efforts and sacrifices that have been made by the Iraqi army to defend international peace and security. They also stressed their country’s keenness to boost cooperation with Iraq in all areas.
