The Speaker, Legal Committee discuss Election Law

The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri chaired a meeting of the Legal Committee in the presence of heads of the political blocs and the Independent High Electoral Commission in which they discussed the Election Law.
The Speaker stressed the importance of resolving the disputes over Election Law and reaching agreement on points of disagreement, adding “We have a great responsibility that requires all political parties to reach an agreement – mainly over the timing of the elections”.
The Speaker remarked, “We have to resort to constructive dialogue as it represents the right way to reach a solution that satisfies all parties and put the interests of the Iraqi people above all other considerations”, confirming the parliament’s keenness to take into account all views in accordance with the Constitution.
