The Speaker meets British Ambassador to Iraq

The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri met on Sunday the British Ambassador to Iraq Mr. John Wilkes. During the meeting, they discussed the most prominent political and security developments in Iraq and the region, and ways to strengthen relations between the two countries, they also discussed the issue of the upcoming elections and the need to support the displaced people and reconstruct the liberated areas.
The Speaker stressed that the COR is keen to pass the Election Law by urging the political blocs to reach an agreement over controversial issues, adding that “all parties are responsible for the success of the democratic process”
Al-Jubouri stressed Iraq’s need for the international support to reconstruct its liberated cities which are destroyed by terrorist acts and to return the displaced families.
He added, “We hope that Britain will make a great contribution in the International Donor Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq to be held soon in Kuwait, which will contribute to overcoming many problems and enhancing security and stability in the country.”
The Speaker also appreciated the role of Britain in supporting Iraq at all levels.
