COR votes to double the absence fine for its members and finishes reading Federal Budget Law for 2018
In its 8th plenary session of the second legislative term-fourth legislative year held on Monday January 29, 2018, the COR voted to pass two parliamentary resolutions and finished the reading of four laws, including the Federal Budget Law for 2018.
The session was chaired by H.E the Speaker DR. Saleem al-Jubouri and attended by 166 MPs.
At the outset of the session, the Council voted on a parliamentary resolution submitted by the Finance Committee to cancel all measures taken previously by the Council of Representatives on banking transactions with financial institutions in the Kurdistan region.
The Council then voted to approve a parliamentary resolution to double the absence fine for its members to one million dinars.
The Speaker remarked that an invitation was forwarded to the Prime Minister Dr. Haidar al-Abadi to attend Wednesday’s session and discuss the legislative proposal for the Federal Budget Law for 2018 at the request of the parliamentary blocs.
On the other hand, the Council finished the first reading of the legislative proposal to include contractors from the Sons of Iraq (the Awakening groups) to the Ministries of Defense and Interior submitted by the Security and Defense and Legal Committees.
The Council completed the first reading of the legislative proposal for the Institute of Sports Management submitted by the committees of Youth and Sports and Legal.
The Council finished report and discussion of the legislative proposal for the first amendment to the CPA Order No. (2) of 2003, submitted by the Youth and Sports, Legal and Civil Society Committees.
Then the Council completed the first reading of the Federal Budget Law for 2018 to be approved.
The session was adjourned to Wednesday 31/1/2018.
