COR finishes reading 4 laws

In its 11th plenary session held on Sunday February 11, 2018, the Iraqi Council of Representatives finished reading 4 laws.
At the outset of the session, the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri declared that the government sent on Thursday an amended draft of the Federal Budget Law of 2018 and that he referred it to the Finance Committee, calling on the Committee to study the amended version and include amendments to the report in addition to the draft budget law in order to complete its legislation.
Al-Jubouri pointed to the need to hold a technical meeting with the Prime Minister to reach an agreement over the amendments and to discuss the adoption of federal budget law to achieve people’s interests for the benefit of all in accordance with the applications submitted.
The Council concluded the first reading of the legislative proposal for the Olympic Committee law submitted by the Youth and Sports Committee.
The Council completed reading report and discussion of the legislative proposal for the Prevention of Firearms at Events Law submitted by the Legal Committee.
On the other hand, MP Haider Mawla reviewed the issue of water scarcity in Maysan province.
In his response, Mr. Turhan al-Mufti, the government’s Representative to the Council of Representatives, explained that the Higher Committee for Water works by the order of the Prime Minister through special teams to remove excess sediment from rivers.
Then the Council completed reading report and discussion of the legislative proposal for the Institute of Sports Management law submitted by the Committee of Sport and Youth.
The Council completed the reading of a report and discussion of the legislative proposal for the Disengagement of Juvenile Correction Department from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and attaching it to the Ministry of Justice, submitted by the Legal Committee.
The session was then adjourned.
