The Speaker meets Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations

The Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri received in his office on Monday May 16, 2017 the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. Mohammad Ali al-Hakim and the Executive Secretary of ESCWA.
The Speaker congratulated Mr. Mohammad Ali al-Hakim for his appointment as a deputy and Executive Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) for the first time in the history of Iraq, pointing out that this is an evidence of Iraq’s restoration of its leading role in international and regional organizations.
During the meeting, they discussed the political and security situations in Iraq and the region, the liberation operations in Mosul, the situation of displaced people and international support to Iraq.
For his part, Mr. al-Hakim lauded the Speaker’s role in passing laws that positively affect the lives of the citizens.
