COR celebrates the victories achieved by security forces and resumes voting on law of rehabilitation of Inmates and Depositors

In its 4th ordinary plenary session of the first legislative term – fourth legislative year held on Monday July 10, 2017 the COR celebrated the victories achieved by security forces and resumed voting on inmates’ rehabilitation law. The session was chaired by H.E. the Speaker Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri and attended by 172 MPs.
At the outset of the session, the Speaker directed to send the Legislative Calendar to the parliamentary committees and blocs for approval and validation.
MP Ahmad al-Jubouri read out a statement on behalf of the Representatives of Nineveh province, in which he congratulated Iraqis on the liberation of Mosul by the security forces after years of destruction, death and captivity. He highlighted the great role that the supreme religious authority played when he launched the Fatwa of the defense of Iraq, and hailed the great sacrifices of the armed forces who had given the most precious; their lives for the sake of Iraq and its sanctities.
The statement called for the enactment of laws that ensure the rights of the martyrs’ families and obligate the local government in Nineveh to name the streets of the city after the martyrs. It also emphasized the importance of launching campaigns for reconstruction and returning the IDPs and to compensate those affected by terrorist acts.
The Council resumed voting on the law of rehabilitation of Inmates and Depositors submitted by Committees the Labor & Social Affairs, Legal Affairs, Security& Defense and Human Rights after voting on 19 articles of the law.
MP Nayazi Mammar Oglu read a statement in which he focused on ISIS crimes against Turkmen civilians in Tal Afar, Tuz Khirmatu and Bashir, urging the Council to vote on a resolution to consider ISIS crimes in these district a genocide.
The session was then adjourned to next Tuesday 18//7/2017.
